Milan, 17 September 2022. Visioni Incontra, the Industry section of the International Documentary Festival Visioni dal Mondo, curated by Cinzia Masòtina, Advisor and Coordinator, which took place on 15 and 16 September at the Teatro Litta, ended yesterday with great success and an extraordinary presence of industry professionals.
A jury of over 20 decision makers, made up of national and international industry professionals, chose the winners from among the 20 Italian and international documentary projects in contests, Work in Progress, i.e. projects already in production or in post-production, and Final Development, i.e. projects already developed that have just started or will start production in the coming months.
Prizes were awarded to:
“My Game Changer“, directed by Nevet Mazor, Liran Atzmor, produced by Vivi Halpern and Orly Topel, won the Visioni Incontra Best Documentary Project 2022 Award worth €2,500 offered by the Lombardia Film Commission, with the motivation: for its ability to highlight the hidden aspect of the communicative code of videogames, which allows some to communicate with each other where others tend to isolate themselves. All this through the direct experience of Nevet, who contributes with his fragility but at the same time with a powerful vitality to overcome stereotypes on autism.
“La sal negra“, directed by Nikola Lorenzin, produced by Marco Gernone, won the Lo Scrittoio Subtitles Award, with the following motivation: the project tackles an extremely topical universal theme by giving voice to different points of view, on the one hand the need to rethink development and to preserve the identity of peoples and places in the face of excessive exploitation, and on the other the need for economic and social growth, which is now unavoidable for countries and peoples in the southern hemisphere. Also worthy of note is the desire to highlight the fact that, never before as in this historical juncture, the global South and the global North see their fates as intimately linked, regardless of their respective immediate demands and different ways of acting.
“SHE“, directed by Parsifal Reparato, produced by Parsifal Reparato, won the DocXChange Award (the international network of cinemas that dedicate their programming to documentaries), with the motivation: an important topic about which we know very little. We were truly amazed by the director’s presentation and interpretation, research and creative solutions. Considering the limited access for the film, the director has a very interesting way of expressing life inside the factory. We would be very happy to present ‘SHE’ soon in our cinemas around the world.
In addition, “SHE” also won the Bio to B Award, which will allow the completed film to participate in the annual event that Biografilm Festival (Bologna) dedicates to business-to-business networking between audiovisual professionals, with the motivation: for the project’s ambition to tell stories that rarely find the light.
“Nanyang“, directed by Enrico Parenti, produced by Susanna Trojano, won the La Compagnia Award, which will include the film in the programming of the La Compagnia Cinema in Florence once it has been completed.
Special mention of the jury to “Portrait of a confused father“, directed by Gunnar Hall Jensen, produced by Ingrid G. Aune Falch, Torstein Parelius, Christan Aune, with the motivation: for the courage and sincerity of a man who questions his role as a father without hypocrisy and modesty.
Visioni Incontra also sold out the panels, roundtables and case histories on the programme.
