The International Documentary Festival “Visioni dal Mondo”,

in Milan from September 12th to 15th, 2024,

officially opens the calls for submissions for its tenth edition

Milan, February 15, 2024 – The International Documentary Festival Visioni dal Mondo, the eagerly anticipated annual event showcasing cinema of reality, founded and directed by Francesco Bizzarri, and with artistic direction by Maurizio Nichetti, scheduled in Milan from September 12th to 15th, 2024, officially opens the calls for submissions for the tenth edition, available starting today on the website www.visionidalmondo.it.

The 2024 Contests open for submissions include:

• Italian Contest, reserved for independent Italian productions, featuring two sections: feature-length documentaries, for documentaries exceeding 50 minutes, and new talent debut, for debut works regardless of duration;
• International Contest, reserved for foreign documentary films exceeding 65 minutes;
• Visioni VR Contest, in collaboration with the National Museum of Science and Technology Leonardo da Vinci, dedicated to linear virtual reality works and interactive experiences.

In addition, registrations are open for the Visioni Incontra Contest, part of the Industry section focused on business and aimed at industry professionals, curated by Cinzia Masòtina, responsible for advisory and coordination. The Contest is open to documentary projects seeking funding, with categories including work in progress, for projects in production or post-production, and final development, for projects already developed in pre-production or just started in production.

The deadline for submissions to the Contests of the 10th International Documentary Festival Visioni dal Mondo and Visioni Incontra is May 31, 2024. Complete details on participation requirements, regulations, and submission procedures are available on the official website www.visionidalmondo.it.

A panel of expert judges will be tasked with evaluating the competing works, and the winners will be announced during the awards ceremony on the final day of the Festival. All works selected for the tenth edition will be at the center of a rich schedule featuring premieres, masterclasses, interactive workshops, and moments of in-depth exploration of the event. The 10th anniversary will be a rich and celebratory milestone, an extraordinary stage marking a decade of commitment to supporting the sector and promoting the documentary genre as a form of expression capable of narrating, sometimes anticipating the times, the contemporary world in all its complexities.
