for the 11th International Documentary Festival Visioni dal Mondo,
Scheduled in Milan from September 11-14, 2025
Milan, February 25, 2025 – The International Documentary Festival Visioni dal Mondo, the highly anticipated annual event for reality cinema, announces the official opening of the Call for Entries for its eleventh edition, scheduled in Milan from September 11-14, 2025.
Founded and directed by Francesco Bizzarri, with the artistic direction of Maurizio Nichetti, the 11th Visioni dal Mondo Festival renews its commitment to giving voice and space to the world of Italian and international documentary cinema, supporting the genre as a form of expression capable of investigating and narrating reality in all its nuances.
Competition Categories
The organizers confirm the four competitive sections for the 2025 edition, for which entries can be submitted on the website www.visionidalmondo.it:
- Italian Contest, reserved for independent Italian productions, with two sections: Feature Films, reserved for documentaries over 50’ in length, and New Talent First Feature, reserved for debut works with no length limit;
- International Contest, reserved for foreign documentary films over 65’ in length;
- Visioni VR Contest, in collaboration with the Leonardo da Vinci National Museum of Science and Technology, reserved for virtual reality works;
- Visioni Incontra Contest, part of the Festival’s Industry section dedicated to business and aimed at industry professionals, curated by Cinzia Masòtina, Head of Industry of the Festival. The Competition is aimed at documentary projects seeking funding, divided into two categories: work in progress, dedicated to projects in production or post-production, and final development, dedicated to projects already developed that are in pre-production or just starting production.
Deadlines and Selections
Entries for the 2025 Contests are open until May 31, 2025. Complete details on participation requirements, regulations, and submission methods are available on the official website www.visionidalmondo.it. The selected works will be evaluated by a jury of experts, who will announce the winners during the awards ceremony on the final day of the event.
The organizers are already working on a program full of previews, masterclasses, and meetings with Italian and international directors and guests. Visioni dal Mondo reaffirms itself as the place where reality cinema takes shape and becomes storytelling, with stories that belong to everyone and resonate in the present.
