Visioni Incontra Best Documentary Project 2024 Award
THE OTHER BORDER by Simone Mestroni, produced by Rizoma Film
Motivation: For its intimate yet respectful approach to the reality it portrays, suspended between emancipation from traditional models and a stereotyped contemporary world, within a cultural and geographical context that feels both distant and close.
La Compagnia Award
IN TRANSIT by Valerio Ciriaci, produced by Parallelo 41 Produzioni, Awens Film and Cinecittà
Motivation: A significant story, still little known. We were struck by the project’s presentation, the complex research work carried out in the archives, and the creative solutions envisioned. We believe that the story of a cinema pioneer like Elvira Notari can captivate diverse audiences and address important themes such as inclusion and the revival of early cinema.
Lo Scrittoio Subtitles Award
TRUST THESE PEOPLE by Francesco Catarinolo, produced by Studio Pandora
Motivation: Once again, sport, with its ability to engage young people in particular, becomes a tool to denounce abuses and tyrannies of all kinds, as had already happened with the red shirts worn by tennis players in Chile in the 1970s. This project, starting from an Italian story, expands its perspective to the world, with the ambition to address universal issues like racism, which is far from eradicated, even more than half a century after the events the film seeks to recount.
Archivio Luce Award
WINGS OF VENICE by Mattia Bello, produced by Kublai Film
Motivation: For its ability to narrate the ingenuity and development of the great national civil aviation industry, and the birth of the Venice Film Festival, while simultaneously delivering a message of peace and the ethical use of technological innovations.
Bio to B Award
THE OTHER SIDE OF SILENCE by Dheeraj Akolkar, produced by Sant og usant AS
Motivation: A story that must be told, especially in such a critical moment as the one we are living in, through the charisma and emotional strength of this woman, who, through her life and work, becomes a witness to the possibility of overcoming horror.
THE COPRO AWARD
IN TRANSIT by Valerio Ciriaci, produced by Parallelo 41 Produzioni, Awens Film and Cinecittà
Motivation: The revelation of a pioneer female filmmaker and her importance to Italian cinema serves as a fascinating subject that will resonate to international audiences. She deserves international acknowledgment, and the film is a perfect path to achieve it.
Visioni Incontra Special Mention
THE OTHER SIDE OF SILENCE by Dheeraj Akolkar, produced by Sant og usant AS
