Simme tutt’uno

Concorso italiano – New talent opera prima

Synopsis:

“Simme Tutt’uno” explores the united community of Scampia, a district of the northern area of Naples, and its efforts to fight back against the educational and material poverty consequent to the government’s negligence, in the hope of promoting cultural growth and giving the youth of the area the means and the freedom to be authors of their future. Through these instances of resistance and regeneration, a hymn to awakening from numbness shines forth for an awareness of the responsibilities and rights of every citizen.

Director’s Notes:

“Simme Tutt’uno” took shape during filming, keeping the focus on the initial intentions that inspired the decision to discuss a continuously changing territory, but morphing its structure based on new insights spurring from the active and participating dialogue with the contributors. The goal always remained to propose a new narrative of Scampia aimed at highlighting the strong instances of renewal of a neighbourhood determined to break the generational chains that attempt to nail it to its difficult past.
