The ‘A Window on the World-Images from Reality’ International Documentary Festival is organized by UniCredit Pavilion and by the Production Co. FRANKIESHOWBIZ. Additional support is provided by other public and private Institutions, and by private Sponsors. The Main Media Partner is Rai, Media Partners are RaiNews24 and RaiCultura, with the support of Rai Cinema.

The ‘A Window on the World-Images from Reality’ International Documentary Festival wants to promote the documentary genre as the best cinematic art to report and narrate the world we are living in.
The Festival wants to foster the documentary not only as a current affair reporter but also as an original story teller, as the cinema of the real world.
The ‘A Window on the World-Images from Reality’ International Documentary Festival wants to investigate and report on the most important events of our contemporaneity, understand its changes and give a vision of our future.
The ‘A Window on the World-Images from Reality’ International Documentary Festival wants to narrate universal stories and small little personal stories, with all different accents and colours, from drama to comedy .
The Festival wants to dive into the society we are living in, the politics, the economy, the work, the culture, the social issues, but also into our most private emotions , our everyday private life.
The first edition of the ‘A Window on the World-Images from Reality’ International Documentary Festival will take place in milan (Italy) from the 11th to the 13th of December 2015 at the UniCredit Pavilion, the multifunctional auditorium designed by the renown Michele De Lucchi architect, and located in piazza Gae Aulenti near the UniCredit Tower.
OUT OF COMPETITION PREMIERES
10 Feature lenght international documentary that have been awarded prizes in the International Festivals, and that are Italian premieres. Independent productions or big studio’s productions but all of them outstanding for the originality of the themes and of the storytelling. The International Panorama Section does not participate in the competition.
ITALIAN COMPETITION
Stories of the Contemporary World, by young italian authors and directors. A Competition without any format or lenght limit. The film selection is regulated by the Rules and Regulations section.
TRIBUTE TO RAI CINEMA
A selection of outstanding premieres of documentaries produced by Rai Cinema in 2014 and 2015.
MASTERCLASS / HOMAGE AND TRIBUTE
A Masterclass will be organized by the Festival with an outstanding international film maker. The Festival will pay him/her a Tribute and homage with a Career Prize.
ROUND TABLE
The International Conference centering on the theme’ The Images of Reality today, between News, Reportages, Documentaries’.
Journalists, bloggers, critics, filmamkers, producers, distributors, editors, directors of photographies, leading personalities of the movie business will take part to the roundtable.
COMPETITION, AWARDS AND JURY
The selection is done by the Festival Directors and by the Selection Committe and the decisions are based on those they consider to be the artistic and narrative merits of the works.
Will be considered for selection all short, mid-lenght, feature-lenght italian documentaries completed after 1st of january 2014 and not yet screened in italy in any place and context.
The festival directors will nominate:
- The Official Palmares Jury composed of leading figures in documentary cinema. The Jury will award the Official Palmares UniCredit Pavilion Prize of 5000 euro;
- The Student Jury: a Jury composed of students of the most known cinema and documentary university departments and specialized schools. The students Jury will award the Student Jury UniCredit Pavilion Prize of 2500 euro.
SUBMISSION OF FILMS AND DEADLINE
Subscription of films for pre-selection is free.
Every film must be submitted through the online registration procedure ‘entry form’ available on this site.
All works that want to participate to the Competition should be sent within the 25th of september 2015. Screening Formats allowed are mp4, h246, or a link streaming specifing the url and pw in the entry form. Follow the procedure you can find in the entry form. The link must stay active until October 30th, 2015.
This material must be accompanied only by the plot of the film and the bio-filmography of the director.
Films can be submitted for the Festival selection also through the platform Italiandoc.

SELECTED FILMS AND SHIPPING OF THE COPIES
The owners of the works that that will have been selected, should send the following documentation within 5 days from notice of the selection .

- for promotional purposes a digital trailer (30” max, mp4 or h264 format)
Admitted screening formats are:
DCP, HD, DigiBeta, Blu-Ray, DVD.
Copies of the selected works should be sent in one of the above said formats and with an additional safety copy in blue ray to Milano address within the 27th of November 2015. The Programme responsible will give all necessary additional information.
SCHEDULE OF THE SCREENINGS
The general programme and the schedule of the screening are decided upon by the Festival management only. Every film could be screened up to a max of 5 times.
Foreign films will be screened in original version with italian subtitles. For films shot in other languages than english, the producer is asked to submit a copy with english subtitles.
PRIZES
All prizes will be awarded to the directors of the winning films.
- Special Jury Prize UniCredit Pavilion of 5000 euros
- Student’s Jury Prize UniCredit Pavilion of 2500 euros
The awarded films should carry in the opening titles the mention : ‘awarded at the ‘Visioni dal mondo-Immagini dalla realtà 2015′ International Documentary Festival. The exact wording and characters will be given from the Festival secretary.
GENERAL RULES
Shipping costs as well as any custom fees, are at the expense of the participants, if not authorized differently by the Programmazione responsible. We recommend the label on your package ” without commercial values”, for cultural purposes only.
Filmakers and or producers are solely responsible for the contents of their film and must declare , upon registration in the festival, to have fully completed with copyright laws
For films participating to the Competition, the Festival does not cover any rental fee.
All copies of Films included in the Programme are insured. In case of loss or damages of a copy , the Festival lianility will be limited to the costs of reprinting copies based on Italian prices.
In case of conflicting interpretation only the Italian version of the Rules and Regulations is considered valid.
Participation to the Competition implies the complete acceptance of the above Rules and Regulations.
The Festival Management could take decisions on different subjects not provided for in these Rules and regulations. Any litigation will be judged by the Court of Milano, Italy.
